Business, Economics and Enterprise

This book is for teachers of business education and economics beginning their professional development, including those on PGCE courses, and those in their induction year. It will also be suitable for subject leaders with mentor responsibilities and Advanced Skills Teachers undertaking specialist inset and teaching support. In addition to covering the training standards for NQTs and the Induction Standards, "Business, Economics and Enterprise" goes further by fully exploring issues to do with subject knowledge in learning to teach, broadly accepting that an essential element of a secondary teacher's identity is tied up with the subject taught. A distinguishing feature is that this book starts by recognizing how new teachers often feel disempowered in relation to the subject expertise they bring into teaching. The three sections in the book cover the following themes: framing the subject; teaching the subject; business, economics and enterprise within the professional community.
